  • The weather was picture-perfect Wednesday, Oct. 14, for the Trinity Valley Exposition Rodeo Parade. Hundreds lined the streets of Liberty to watch neighbors and friends pass by on the dozens of floats and parade entries. The parade is part of one of the oldest traditions in Liberty County. The Trinity Valley Exposition was established in 1909 and includes a baby parade, rodeo parade, rodeo, fair and carnival. This year, for the first time, a 5K run was introduced into the event. The photos posted are in the same order as the parade line-up.

  • Law enforcement agencies across the state observed one minute of reflection in honor of Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Darren Goforth who was assassinated on Aug. 28, 2015, while pumping gas at a station in Houston. His funeral was held Friday, Sept. 4, beginning at 11 a.m. At that same time, state law enforcement agencies gathered and turned on the lights of their patrol vehicles, with some also offering prayer for Goforth, his family and the larger family of emergency responders. In Cleveland, two observances were held. In the Liberty-Dayton area, an observance was held in the river bottom on US 90, and in Coldspring, the sheriff's office and constable's offices lined up around the courthouse square.
